Welcome to 8th Grade Social Studies!
General Information: Eighth grade social studies explores American history from colonization to modern day, with North Carolina history and events woven into the course. Students will investigate the impacts of conflicts, the role of leadership decisions, how technology has changed society, the development and role of government, the access various groups had to democratic rights and freedoms throughout American history, the actions taken by citizens to create change, personal financial literacy, and the contributions of various cultural groups in the United States and North Carolina.
Daily written homework is rarely given in this class. Instead, homework will consist of the following:
- Make-up work if absent
- Studying vocabulary words (Please do this at least 3 times a week!)
- Studying for quizzes and tests
- Class projects
Students will have a quiz (vocabulary) or test most weeks. Students will have vocabulary in their notebooks and folders. Students will be given a study guide in advance for tests. Notebooks and folders are VERY important. They will be filled with information needed for studying. Bring them to class EVERYDAY.
