Happy Chinese New Year

Traditionally, the Chinese New Year is a time to honor ancestors and
others held in high regard. Families usually gather the evening before the New
Year for an annual reunion dinner. Many clean their house thoroughly to
remove any bad fortunes and to welcome good luck with the new year. Other
traditions and customs with the New Year include lighting firecrackers, eating
dumplings for the first meal of the year and giving money in red paper
envelopes. Smaller gifts of fruit, cakes, biscuits, chocolates and candies are also
exchanged.
