Ms.Helms, ESL Teacher

Hi!
I am the English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher at the northern end of Stanly County Schools (SCS). I serve three Elementary schools: Badin, Millingport and Richfield.  I also serve North Stanly Middle School and North Stanly High School.

My students are English Language Learners (ELLs). The goal of the ESL program is to promote students to obtain proficiency of the English language while they continue to learn in their regular content classes. Their level of English ranges from beginning to advanced so they receive sheltered content-based instruction in order to enhance their reading, writing, speaking, and listening domains in English.

They accomplish this goal through collaboration between the ESL teacher and classroom teachers by providing them with differentiated instruction in inclusion classes, one-on-one instruction or pull-outs according to students' unique needs and learning styles during regular school schedule.

**For safety reasons, we are limiting our travel between schools during the unique 2020-21 school year. Therefore I will meet with parents, teachers and students in more of a virtual means through Google Meets, emails and phone calls.  Thank you for allowing me the pleasure to teach your student(s)!

If you need to contact me, please send me an email at cami.helms@stanlycountyschools.org or you can call my office 704-961-3061.
